Well Done – Choose Light And Love

Today is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  It is the day we celebrate the life of Dr. King and honor the man who is synonymous with the American Civil Rights movement.  He is remembered with gratitude and respect for many things.  But perhaps nothing he said in all his many speeches and national and international addresses was more profound, more powerful, or more pertinent to us today, than these words about light and love. Well Done – Tyler Perry

Last Wednesday evening, ABC broadcasted the annual Country Music Awards show.  As the title says, it’s an awards show, and by definition many in attendance were recognized for their achievements.  Awards were handed out to those who stood out amongst their peers.

One person though, stood head and shoulders above the others for a simple observation and a call to come together.  That man is NOT a singer sharing his thoughts through his music.  But he is a talented and Godly man who shared his words boldly to an audience who not only received his message, but gave him a standing ovation for his obvious wisdom and courage to call out what so badly needed to be called out.  His name is Tyler Perry.   Read more

You Can Help

It is so heart wrenching to see the images, and hear the interviews, of people who have been ravaged by Hurricane Harvey.  It is now known as Tropical Storm Harvey.  But no matter what you call it, in Texas today, there are hundreds of thousands of victims of its power and destruction.  It is terrible seeing the devastation and watching the rescue of little ones, and the elderly, and single mothers with children, and people with their beloved pets, from flooded homes and from cars trapped in flooded streets.  It can surely make anyone watching feel helpless.  But the truth is we aren’t helpless.   Read more

Some Gave All

On this Memorial we want to take a moment to remember the brave me and women of the armed forces who have made that ultimate sacrifice, giving their very lives, to defend our freedom.  They have gone into dark and dangerous places so that we, and our children and our children’s children might be safe.  For that we are a grateful nation and we honor those who have fallen today.  Several years ago on November 13, 2010 Lt General John Kelly USMC, delivered a speech about the dedication and valor of our young men and women who step forward each and every day to protect us.  Having lost his own son, Lt. Robert Kelly, USMC, just 4 days earlier, General Kelly spoke from his heart.

He closed the speech with the moving account of the last six seconds in the lives of two young Marines who died with rifles blazing to protect their brother Marines.  During the speech, he never mentioned the loss of his own son. Read more

Teacher Appreciation

The end of the school year is fast approaching.  Children will say goodbye to their classmates and their teachers.
