Handed A Lemon? Make Lemonade!

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade!   What a great bit of advice that is.  

There is a wonderful story about the 3-M Company who, tried and tried to create a very strong bonding agent for the public’s consumption but everything they created came unstuck.  They reached a wall, they were “handed a lemon”, and instead of just accepting the bitterness of failure, they ended up with what we now know as “Post It Notes”.

Winston Churchill was told at a top boarding school, Harrow, in England, that he would never amount to anything –  he could do nothing.  BUT, we all know what he did with his “lemon”.

A Swiss engineer was continually annoyed by the burrs which stuck to his coat and his dog’s coat whilst walking in the Alps.  BUT, he thought outside of the box, let go of his annoyance, and came up with what we now are able to use for many useful purposes, Velcro.

Michael Jordan, one of the greatest NBA players in history, was cut from his high school basketball team!  He obviously did not accept that “lemon”!

And we all know about dear Pollyanna – what an amazing demonstration she made of what happens when you change a bitter thought to a sweet, a grateful, one.

The next time you are handed a lemon in life, be it small or large, make lemonade.  Your Two Chums believe we can do anything we set our minds to – you can too!
