Say “Cheese”

People have been enjoying cheese for many, many, many years.  It is not known exactly how many but it is believed that cheese was discovered accidentally between 8000 and 3000 BC.

We say “accidentally” as its discovery came about as a result of something else.  Animal skins and inflated internal organs have been the vessels for storing food since ancient times.  It is felt that cheese was discovered when milk was stored in a container made from the stomach of an animal.  The milk  then turned to curds and whey because of the rennet from the stomach.

Although when you walk up to a cheese counter you see many different looking, tasting and smelling cheeses, they all come from the same raw material and that is milk.  It all starts with milk and from that milk, (with a little bit of this and a little bit of that) we end up with wonderful yummies such as Pimento cheese,

artichoke dip,

toasted cheese sandwiches

and quiche!

Cheese brings a smile to our faces thus, when we are taking a photo, we ask people to “say cheese”!

We say, thank heavens for this “mistake” of realizing cheese.  Cheese certainly provides us with joy and abundance in life!
