French Quarter Cheese – It’s Super!

Sunday is the Super Bowl.  The whole country will be focused on New Orleans this Sunday. But if you ask me the football is secondary, the real celebration will be the food:)Of all the cities where the Super Bowl could be held, this year it will be played in one of the country’s best food meccas.  If you’ve ever been to New Orleans you know it is nearly impossible to get a bad meal.  So for those who are really lucky this Sunday, they will have at least one southern specialty on the menu of their Super Bowl party.  And the seriously fortunate will have something straight from the heart of  the New Orleans French Quarter.  That can be you and your guests with this delicious French Quarter Cheese.  The only problem with this yummy dish is that no matter how much you make you’ll wish you had more!

Have fun this Sunday, no matter how you celebrate and as they say in New Orleans, “Laissez les bon temps rouler!”  English translation: Let the good times roll!  Here ‘s to celebrations full of love, joy and abundant living:)

French Quarter Cheese

10 Servings

8  ounces cream cheese
1  clove garlic, minced
1  tablespoon onion, grated
4  tablespoons butter
¼ cup dark brown sugar
1  teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon prepared mustard
1  cup pecans, finely chopped

Combine cream cheese, garlic and onion in a bowl.  Mix well and shape ito a 6-inch disk, 1 inch thick.  Place on a serving plate and chill in refrigerator.

Melt butter, then combine sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and pecans in a small saucepan with butter. Blend well.

Pour pecan mixture over cheese disk and return to refrigerator until 1 hour before serving.  Remove from refrigerator and let stand until room temperature is reached.   Serve with slices of a baguette or your favorite crackers.

Works well to make this a day ahead and refrigerate overnight.

And don’t forget to make some of our other favorite party foods.
Hot Artichoke Dip

Pimento Cheese

Deviled Eggs

Fresh Chips and Guacamole

Sorry but you left out the “s” in “it’s” in the title. This sounds so yummy.
