Well Done, Lewis Miller!

Lewis Miller is a floral designer in New York City who surprises people by putting his beautiful creations in unexpected places!

What he calls a Flower Flash, is when he puts beautiful arrangements in different parts of the city to make a statement.  This heart one, for example,

had this written about it:  (started on the Instagram post “meant to be…)  and continuing “…floral gestures of goodwill and a love letter to New Yorkers. Today’s Flash, nestled against a gorgeous, matte black wall on 60th Street between Lex and 3rd Ave, is even more than that because New Yorkers can be a part of the goodwill and pass it along to women and children in need. This Flower Flash, made with over 500 roses, is in celebration with @darcymiller  and Bloomingdale’s. Every time you post a photo of this Flash with the hashtag #LMDatBloomies59, Bloomingdale’s will donate $1 to The Joyful Heart Foundation, an incredible charity whose core mission is a world free of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse.”

Wanting everyone to know that it is a privilege to vote and that everyone who can should participate, he installed this beautiful arrangement in Washington Square Park in New York.

Mr. Lewis says, “After years of success with Lewis Miller Design, I still wanted to do something a little different to feel fulfilled professionally, and I knew doing so lived somewhere in the idea of making a gesture of goodwill.  It suddenly all clicked, and I soon started creating Flower Flashes™ in 2016 with the idea of giving back to the city of New York and the everyday New Yorker.

“Flower Flashes were born as random acts of kindness and random acts of flowers with the sole purpose to put a smile on someone’s face.”

Mr. Miller’s website reads in part:

In Constant Pursuit of Beauty

We are storytellers through the art of floral design, transforming an arrangement into a love song and an event into an indelible experience. Wherever in the world you need us, from a restored convent in Venice to an intimate backyard garden, we work hand-in-hand with our clients to create ethereal spaces that hold their guests within a dream.”

As you no doubt know, your Two Chums love flowers and everything to do with flowers, including arranging them.  What joy they bring, for sure!

This week, more flowers will be given than any other time of the year.  Pure JOY!

Stop and smell the roses!

My Valentine of over 48 yeas passed eight yeas ago but every single Valentine’s Day, and many days in between, he surprised me with flowers, plants and lovely (sometimes simple, depending on the budget) displays of flowers.

Yesterday, I purchased my own flowers, in celebration of the coming Valentine’s Day. Actually, I think my Valentine nudged me towards the bouquet I chose. 🙂
