Well Done – A Good Deed

It’s the season of giving and today we the opportunity for you to take a moment and give the gift of appreciation for someone reaching a great milestone.

The gentleman in the photo is Harry Horak. A neighbor sent out a request for anyone who saw her post to send her father-in-law, a WWII veteran turning 100 years old next week, a birthday card or note. This was her post and request:

We are all busy this time of year, but, for no more than the cost of a stamp, you have the opportunity to truly do “a good deed”. By acknowledging the major milestone of this gentleman who served his country and is celebrating a life well lived, you can actually make a difference in someone’s life.

When you find yourself frustrated with an online gift order that still hasn’t arrived, or you are stuck in a ridiculous line at Target, or you realize you forgot a gift for one of your kids teachers, or any of the myriad of things that could go wrong in the days leading up to Christmas that could find you feeling defeated, stop and remember that you sent a total stranger a greeting on his 100th birthday and feel good because you did “a good deed” for someone you will never even meet. You made an elderly gentleman smile.

For all who take the time to write a note to Mr. Horak we say, “Well Done”!!!
