Say Cheese – Grilled Cheese That Is

Did You Know?

Did you know that April is Grilled Cheese month?  It would appear that the favorite of all sandwiches…the grilled  cheese….has come a long way baby!

The grilled cheese is such an iconic part of our culture and wrapped up for many of us with so many happy childhood memories.  Now it  seems it is all grown up with whole restaurants devoted to variations on this delightful pleasure:)  There is even a website where you can find ideas for an endless number of grilled cheese sandwiches called  The Grilled Cheese Academy.  If you happen to have a favorite grilled cheese sandwich recipe you can enter it in their 2013 contest to find the best grilled cheese sandwich.  But please, let us your chums know about it first, so we can share it with all our chums.

Our favorite (at least for now) seems to be the one we shared with you a while back which is actually a toasted cheese sandwich.  Eaten with a bowl of tomato bisque soup it is hard to beat!

Still, the weekend is here and and there are almost 2 weeks left in Grilled Cheese Month.  You could have time to try out a lot of different grilled sandwiches before Monday rolls around or April ends.  What a grand time that would be….testing grilled cheese sandwiches to find your very favorite.  Sounds like a lot of love, joy, and abundant living to me!

The best grilled cheese sandwich I’ve ever eaten came from a gourmet food truck that parks with other food trucks about a quarter of a mile from our house every Monday evening. What an awesome creation I had – they used sourdough bread, brie and feta cheeses, along with grilled asparagus and roasted tomatoes. It was to die for – especially with an order of their parmesan truffle fries!
