May Day Again

Like every other date on the calendar, this one comes just once a year.  But this one is different because it has a special name…May Day.  And a special drink to boot…May Day Punch.  Yes, that is really a “thing”!  Basically May Day Punch is a minted strawberry lemonade that you can add vodka to, if you want a spiked punch.

About 4 years ago we gave you a recipe for homemade lemonade in a Mother’s Day post.  You can find the basic recipe and a quick video with instructions here that is guaranteed to show you how to make this yummy lemonade. With just a couple of simple modifications you’ll have May Day Punch.

May Day Punch

Homemade Lemonade recipe
3 cups of hulled strawberries
springs of mint
substitute sparkling water for regular water

To the basic lemonade recipe, instead of the cherries and cherry juice added in the video, add 3 cups of strawberries and a couple springs of fresh mint (leaves only).  Add the berries to the sugar and lemon juice to blend and puree the berries.  Then add sparkling water in place of the regular water.  If you want a spiked punch add a bit of vodka to your glass and then pour in the lemonade.  Either way, moistening the rim of your glass and dipping it in granulated sugar is a fun and festive touch.

This punch will make your taste buds really happy and the video is truly guaranteed to make you smile on this May Day 🙂

P.S. Another thing truly special about this day is that it happens to be the birthday of one of our favorite chums, Allison, who also happens to be Jackie’s daughter-in-law.  If you are a regular visitor to Two Chums you very likely have seen some of Allison’s humor and love in our comments section.  Happy birthday Allison, we love you and wish you a year ahead that is as fun and sweet as you are 🙂
