Girlfriends

The word “girlfriend” first appeared in 1859, according to Merriam-Webster.  It was originally just defined as female friends.

It is hard too put a value on good close girlfriends who are more than friends…they are like sisters with different mothers. Your Two Chums have the great fortune and blessing to have a wonderful group of girlfriends who have walked, for many years and through much laughter and some tears, together. We are known as “The Sunshine Sisters”. That was a name my, husband Randy branded us with and it happily stuck. Our lives are all richer and fuller because we carry each other’s burdens and celebrate each other’s joys. We love each other’s families and pray for one another regularly. We were each others “community” before anyone used that term. We have each others backs…and sides and everywhere else that is needed. We are each others “peeps”.

When we came across this quote about girlfriends we knew we had to share it with you, our chums:

Girlfriends We Will Stay
We’ve been girlfriends from the very start,
and girlfriends we will stay.
No judgments will be levied,
no matter what we say.
We talk about our families,
and the challenges we face.
Our secrets remain secret,
in our friendship safety place.
We talk about new clothes and shoes,
and plan a girls night out.
There is nothing we can’t plot or scheme,
or talk all night about.
We don’t agree on everything,
but never fight for long,
and always try to talk things out,
when there is something wrong.
We have so much in common,
yet we’re different in our ways.
We’ve been girlfriends from the very start,
and girlfriends we will stay.

If you don’t as yet have girlfriends like this, today is the day to decide to be open to finding them or being found by them. They could be anywhere and cross your path even in the most unlikely of places or in the most unusual way. They could be co-workers, mothers of your children, neighbors or just someone whom you spontaneously strike up a conversation with in the market. You never know where a good girlfriend might be waiting to be found. Just stay open and when you sense that kindred spirit in someone invite them to have coffee with you or to go on a walk. One of lives greatest treasures may be right in front of you. Don’t miss it.
