Chums Choice – All Creatures Great And Small

If you’ve not already seen the delightful program, All Creatures Great and Small on PBS, this weekend would be a good time to start.

James Herriot’s adventures as a veterinarian in 1930’s Yorkshire, England get a glorious new adaptation in a seven-part series based on his beloved books. This is the story of the iconic vet who became renowned for his inspiring humor, compassion and love of life.

You can watch full episodes of All Creatures Great and Small on your smart TV by installing the App and joining PBS for a small monthly donations of only $5. There is a wide range of programs available on PBS, everything from cooking (they even have the original episodes of Julia Child’s The French Chef for example) to history…many of Ken Burns series are currently available, there are programs related to culture, and Masterpiece which is their most well known vehicle for dramatic series. Many, if not most of you, may already have seen Downton Abbey on Masterpiece. It is one of your Two Chums favorite TV programs ever made.

If you prefer not to get the App or to support PBS, you can also see this lovely series on You Tube for $1.99 per episode. The first season is only 7 episodes so for $14 you can treat yourself to several hours of charming entertainment. We think you will be thoroughly enchanted as we were with this true story of a very lovely young man who made his life’s work caring for animals and the people who owned them. Give it a try. We think it is surely worth your time…and money. 🙂

  1. My dad had me read those books when I was in college long before he passed away. I had wanted to go to veterinary school so he gave them to me as a gift. This warmed my heart to be reminded of him. Thank you! Excited to watch this.
