Birthday Cake Pops Bouquet

What could be more fun for a celebration than a bouquet of cake pops?!!!  This is really a method more than a recipe as you can use any flavor of cake and icing that you choose.

To begin, fill a flower pot with green floral foam, then cover the foam with moss or shredded green tissue paper. Now your flower pot is ready to hold your “bouquet”.

These cake pops are made by crumbling cake and icing together.  Bake your favorite cake, then mix in your favorite icing until the cake pops are moist enough that they can be rolled into balls that hold together easily.  The balls of cake and icing should be somewhere between the size of a walnut and a golf ball.  Place cake balls/pops on waxed or parchment paper on a baking sheet.  Freeze the cake balls until firm.  While they are in the freezer, prepare to make your cake pop bouquet.  To make a bouquet, tie some green ribbon on sticks that will serve as the “stem” of the cake pop flower and also provide the way to hold your cake pop as you eat it.  (This is also a perfect way to use any left over cake you may have as well.)

While the pops are firming up in the freezer, melt white, or dark chocolate chips in a bowl over some low boiling water in a pan.  For each 12 oz. package of white or dark chocolate chips, add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil.  This will help to keep the melted chocolate smooth as you are dipping cake pops.

After the cake pops are firm from being in the freezer for at least 1 hour, insert the stick into the bottom of the cake pop (the side that has been sitting on the baking sheet which is probably a bit flat).  Now  quickly dip and swirl the pop to cover completely with melted chocolate.  Immediately dip the top of the cake pop in a bowl of sprinkles.  These can be rainbow sprinkles, as the ones we used, or your favorite single color sprinkles.

Now place the cake pop “flower” in the foam in the flower pot and begin to form your “bouquet”.
Here is a bonus in making this bouquet.  Nearly all the components can be purchased at you local Dollar $$$ Store.  The flower pot, the foam, the sticks, the ribbon, the shredded green tissue, and the sprinkles all came from either the 99 Cent Store or the Dollar Tree.  This just means that this is a very cost effective bouquet.

This bouquet can be used for any celebration but today especially we are partial to birthday celebrations.  “Why?” you may well ask.  Well, here’s why.  Today just happens to be the birthday of everyone’s favorite chum, Jackie!  Help me celebrate this wonderful lady by leaving her your happy birthday wishes in the comment section.  No one deserves to be celebrated more than my chum, Jackie.  She is kind, strong, encouraging, generous, steadfast, diligent and fiercely loyal.  And NO ONE loves a good laugh more than she does!  She is a FABULOUS friend and those of us who call her our chum, are blessed.  Allow me to speak for all of us who love you dearly, and say, “Happy Birthday Jackie” !!!

xo,
