A Return to Glam

After several years of lack luster gowns and more funky dress and suit styles at Hollywood’s big night, last night was a return to more traditionally glamorous attire at the 95th Academy Awards.

The gowns were mostly black and white

Sofia Carson in Giambarrista Valli
Lady Gaga in Donatello Versace
Ana de Armas in Louis Vuitton
Nicole Kidman in Armani
Michelle Williams in Chanel
Andie MacDowell in Saint Laurent
Michelle Yeoh in Dior
Phoebe Waller-Bridge in Dolce & Gabbana
Rooney Mara in vintage Alexander McQueen
Deepka Padukone in Louis Vuitton
Mindy Kaling in Vera Wang
Jenny Slate in Thom Browne
Emily Blunt in Valentino

Yes, the show was filled with black and white, but we think it was red that took the night!

Cara Delevingne in Elie Saab

As you may or may not know, your Two Chums have a very long tradition of watching the Oscars together along with another dear chum, Lois. Our tradition goes back more that 20 years. We were happy to watch together again this year and loved seeing a return to the more classic glamorous attire over some of the more edgy dresses or outfits in recent years. You simply can’t go wrong, whether it is a formal dress or everyday clothes, when you choose classy over trendy. Those classic styles have stood the test of time. and most everyone can find one they look and feel great in. Come to think it….that’s why they are classics! So here’s to good times, good friends, and good looking clothes,,,, and having some classic movies to make you laugh or make cry and either way to tell you a great story, that’s a real bonus!

Thank you for the summary. Without the hurry and noise you can really appreciate the glamor. I agree, classics don’t have to be stodgy.
