Putting Your Best Foot Forward

Whether you’re an Olympic athlete or a Mom on the run, we all need to pay attention to our feet.

Summertime brings bare feet, pretty little sandals and shoes with little or no covering. But along with these adorable fashion accessories, oftentimes our feet suffer.  Dry cracked feet, especially heels,o can be the result of open-backed sandals or going barefoot.  Let’s face it, there is nothing that feels more unattractive.

Your Two Chums have found a few remedies for dry feet which we would like to share with you.

Robin has found that Stridex is a wonderful remedy, as odd as that may sound.  Stridex contains alpha hydroxy acid which helps to remove the calluses which cause the cracking.  Each night, use one Stridex pad, per foot, to wipe across your entire heel.  Next, put a good smear of coconut oil or a thicker type moisture cream on your foot.  If your heels are especially bad, wrap your foot in a sandwich bag or Saran Wrap to hold the moisture in, and then put socks on.  Do not go to bed with the plastic on your feet.  Start this process an hour or so before you plan to go to bed.  Take the plastic off , apply another dollop of moisturizer, and put the socks back on for the night.  Expect to see amazing results after doing this each night for one week.  Anytime your feet start to become dry again, apply this method.

Jackie has found Miracle Foot Repair to offer a great remedy.  Again, apply liberally each night, pop some socks on and, after about a week of doing this, your feet will be in much better shape.

Dr. Oz has his own remedy…....glycerin and rosewater.

You should be able to find these “ingredients” for softer feet at most drug stores or Target or Walmart.  The coconut oil can be found at many grocery stores or Whole Foods.

Neither of your Two Chums like sleeping in socks but we dislike having hard, ugly, rough feet even more!  If you’ve struggled with dry, cracked feet try one of these remedies and let us know what you think:)

I was always proud of my messed-up feet: their corns were reminders of dancing in toe-shoes; their calluses let me walk, barefoot, on hot pavement, by pools, and on hot sand, at the beach.
