We All Scream For Ice Cream

The age old children’s rhythm “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream” could well have been penned for this delicious and oh so easy delight…Fresh Homemade Raspberry Ice Cream!

This is quite simply the easiest, and truly one of the most delicious ice creams you’ll eat all summer. The method requires no ice cream freezer or special equipment and the flavor possibilities are limited only by your imagination. We chose to make raspberry because we found some sweet and juicy raspberries to use and just couldn’t resist. But you can make any flavor you like using this very simple and basic recipe. Make it in the morning and it will be ready to eat in the afternoon as a treat or to serve at dinner as an elegant dessert.

So here is the basic recipe/method that is both ridiculously easy and unbelievably tasty:
1 pint of whipping cream
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 tablespoon vanilla

Whip the cream with the vanilla until you have stiff peaks of cream. Fold in the sweetened condensed milk. That’s it! Thats the basic vanilla recipe.

From here you can add anything you like. Chocolate sauce, coconut, orange marmalade, crushed Oreos, chocolate chips, caramel sauce, candied pecans, crushed peppermints, the possibilities are endless!

We added 1 pint of fresh raspberries pureed in the blender with 1/2 cup sugar. Blending the berries will form a syrup. Add the syrup to the cream and condensed milk mixture and stir to combine. Pour into a container (glass is great because it conducts the cold and helps the ice cream to freeze faster, but plastic or metal or paper will work too) and place in the freezer for at least 4 hours to firm completely.

Next….scoop and enjoy. You will all scream for this ice cream!
