Some Thoughts On Memorial Day

As you prepare for this Memorial Day Weekend we would like to suggest that this holiday is more than just BBQ’s, family get-togethers, hit movie releases, and major sales at your favorite store or website.  You may be planning to take part in any or all of those activities, but somewhere along the way this weekend, take time to remember why this day was set aside in the first place. We came across this quote that put things into perspective, at least for us, and we hope for you our chums as well:

“Have you ever stopped to ponder the amount of blood spilled, the volume of tears shed, the degree of pain and anguish endured, the number of noble men and women lost in battle so that we as individuals might have a say in governing our country? Honor the lives sacrificed for your freedoms.“

There are many ways to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice that we might be free to enjoy any number of activities this weekend.  As you know, your Two Chums are very big on gratitude.  So our word to you today is to look for tangible ways to show your gratitude.  It might be helping your child have a lemonade stand to benefit families of fallen soldiers, it might be visiting a family or making a phone call to a family who lost a loved one in service to our country, maybe you and your children or grandchildren could take a uflag to the grave of someone who died in battle, or it might be making a donation to the garysinisefoundation.org, a wonderful organization that helps wounded soldiers and their families as well as the families of the fallen.

We each can do something to express our gratitude and teach our children, the next generation, to do the same.  We must remember our freedom is precious and IT IS NOT FREE!

Thousands have died that we might have that freedom.  Now let us honor them by living like people who deserve it.
