She Carries On

It is not Groundhog Day…this is not a repeat of the post we did on Friday. Rather it is an illustration of it.

HRH Queen Elizabeth II lived through, and served during, WWII. As we explained on Friday, during that time this slogan became synonymous with the English and how they handle a crisis. By all accounts we are having a global crisis of sorts right now with the outbreak around the world of the coronavirus. Those who have pre-existing health conditions or compromised health in some way, or who are elderly are most at risk and have been advised to be especially cautious.

This past weekend, as is her normal weekend routine, the Queen was at Windsor Castle and yesterday did what she always does…she went to church.

The Queen on her way back home from All Saints Church in Windsor on Sunday.

Next month will mark her 94th birthday. It is safe to say that many older people likely felt safer and more comfortable staying put at home yesterday, but this Queen clearly felt the need to worship at church as she always has. Unlike many of us who are younger, she understands well the threat of danger and has lived through war and the threat of death, so this was not a cavalier or foolish decision on her part. It was Elizabeth just being Elizabeth as she always has been and continues to be, not succumbing to fear but overcoming it to be where she felt she needed to be. It was an unmistakeable illustration of the British way… Keep Calm And Carry On.

During these uncertain times, may we all make wise decisions, but may we also be brave enough to follow our convictions and be prayerful about how to proceed when our heart tells us to overcome our fear and carry on.

Bless each one of you today who reads this and may you be quick to spread love and joy anywhere you go and to everyone with whom you speak. There is a world full of fear out there that could use some love and joy right now.
