Savvy Secrets-How Does Your Garden Grow

Savvy Secrets

It’s Spring. Time to tend the garden. Nothing is better in Spring than the blooms that pop up and adorn the garden or flowering house plants like beautiful decorations. Feeding those plants is crucial. But expensive commercial fertilizers aren’t necessary.

You likely have everything you need in your own kitchen to feed those beautiful plants. Social media provided this Savvy Secret that we tried. We found it encouraged beautiful new buds on our dormant orchid house plants from last season that have made a comeback and our hydrangea bushes in the garden that have made an early comeback and are now ready to burst into bloom again. Here is the Savvy Secret that we found and used:

Take your leftover coffee grounds from your morning coffee and place them in a pitcher or watering can. To those grounds add 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon and 1 cup of club soda*. Stir to combine and allow to sit for a few minutes or use right away if you’re in a hurry. This concoction is packed with potassium, phosphorus, nitrogen and other minerals good for your plants. Use this mixture regularly and you’ll see the dramatic difference it can make and for only pennies of what you would spend on commercial plant food and rather than tossing out those coffee grounds they are doing double duty in fueling you and the your plants as well!

*If you don’t have club soda on hand you can substitute a DIY version you can easily make at home. To 2 cups of water at 1/4 teaspoon baking soda and a pinch of salt. Place all ingredients in a jar or bottle with a lid, and shake to combine. Use as you would club soda.

Beautiful flowers and plants brighten any home or office, just one more aspect of abundant living. Try this today and let us know what you think. Happy gardening 🙂
