“An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving”

When it comes to holiday movies there are dozens, if not hundreds, to choose from that revolve around Christmas. This one, as the title implies, is about Thanksgiving.

According to willowandthatch.com this is a family friendly, thoroughly enjoyable film that is perfect to watch this week. This story comes from that beloved American author, Louisa May Alcott, author of the classic Little Women. This story was written about 10 years after Little Women.

After the end of the Civil War, the main character, Mathilda (Tilly) writes to her estranged grandmother for help following the death of her father. Knowing her mother is struggling to make ends meet for her family, Tilly writes to her grandmother for help not knowing or understanding the relationship between her mother and grandmother. Her grandmother’s arrival on the scene changes everything but not as Tilly had imagined it would. This timeless story was a 2008 Hallmark Channel film that is now available on Amazon Prime. It even includes Louisa May Alcotts recipe for her family favorite dessert, Apple Slump!

If you don’t happen to have Amazon Prime check some other streaming services that might have it as well though likely with commercials. We hope you enjoy this film this week…we plan to.
