A Reading Nook

If you like a good book, having a cozy place to curl up and read is always a joy. But it isn’t just adults who can enjoy such pleasures. Children too, can travel to distant places in their imaginations when they are encouraged to spend time reading.

What better way to encourage a young reader to spend time in a favorite book than to give them a quiet cozy place all their own to snuggle in and be transported to far off destinations, foreign lands, and times past and future.

We came across what we think is a brilliant use of an old armoire to encourage any child to find the joys of reading.

This little one seems to be a lover of the book series, Chronicles of Narnia. Her cozy reading spot includes a pillow of what appears to be Aslan and wallpaper lining the back of this reading nook to resemble the trees in the woods that C.S. Lewis’s character, Lucy, wanders into in his classic book The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The lantern to provide light is just a perfect touch to complete this fun reading spot.

If you know a young one who loves to read, or one you would like to know the joys of being lost in a good book, creating a special cozy spot for them like this may be just the ticket to draw them into a whole wide world of books. If they have a favorite series already, use that as inspiration for decorating their special reading spot. For only a very few dollars you can give a child a passport to the whole world as they are transported through space and time in their favorite books. Don’t forget to share some of your favorite reads as a child to your child or grandchild, as well. A good story is always a priceless gift.

A cozy place to curl up with a good story is a timeless treasure at any age. A place to explore more love, more joy and some very abundant living.

From the time he was a baby, I loved to read to my oldest grandchild, Jeremy. He always enjoyed a good story. It feels like just a minute ago he was a little guy sitting on my lap as I read to him. But I blinked and today that little guy is a young man turning 18 years old today. He can’t sit on my lap anymore but we can still share a good story.

The whole world awaits you Jeremy. I look forward to the stories you will write now with your own life as you make your way in the world. No matter where you go or how old you get, always remember your Lolli loves you 🙂
XO,
Lolli (aka Robin)
