Rock-A-Bye “Royal” Baby

The world is in love with this darling couple and so happy for them as they anticipate the birth of their first child who will one day be the king or queen of England. Other than the question of whether this baby will be a boy or girl, or even possibly twins, the question many have, is what will the royal baby’s nursery look like.Unlike most expecting couples, these two can choose to decorate their baby’s nursery with whatever they want…the sky’s the limit and money is really not an obstacle as it would be for most of us. So given the unlimited possibilities, we wondered what might the nursery of this little prince or princess look like when he or she comes home to Kensington Palace where this royal family will be living when renovations are completed.

According to one source, Kate has chosen a line of furniture from a Beverly Hills baby shop called Petit Tresor.   The particular line she likes is Notte Fatata and why not?  This is truly lovely and most definitely fit for a future king or queen.

Now this info about Kate’s choice may or may not be reliable, but it is beautiful and certainly could be what she has chosen.  In researching what is out there right now for moms-to-be to pick from, one thing became quite clear.  Much like this Notte Fatata look, a very clean mono-chromatic style is very much the current trend in nursery design.  It appears that many mommys-to-be are also choosing colors that are neutral and not specific to a baby girl or boy.  The other big trend as you’ll see from these nursery examples is that chandliers are a favorite lighting choice.  Here are just a few of the nurseries that demonstrate these looks:

For those who happen to be having twins, these are a couple of the nurseries we found that just might fill the bill:

For those who prefer more color, or at least a punch of color, these are some great examples of popular looks:

All of these are pretty and fun examples of rooms that would feel special for any baby to come home to.  But for me, the bar was set in the classic 1995 film Father of the Bride 2.  It is just plain hard to beat the nursery that Franc created for George and Nina Banks’ little bundle of joy.

Ideally every parent should have the joy of seeing the room prepared especially for their little one who is about to arrive, and feeling like George Banks did when he first saw his baby’s new nursery.

Whether they are in line to inherit a crown or not, all parents feel the new life that is coming into their lives is special and deserving to feel like a little prince or princess.  Not everyone can afford help from an interior designer to create their baby’s nursery, or expensive nursery furniture like that we are being told Kate has chosen from Petit Tresor. But now, most anyone can afford a line of bedding and accessories for the nursery that Petit Tresor has created for Target.  Here is an example of one of the choices they offer:

With these neutral colors and the sweet little bumble bees, this could work for any baby’s room, boy or girl, and is not only affordable but nice design too.

With a little creativity and not necessarily a lot of money, it is very possible to come up with a nursery with style and substance.   It is always fun to dream about what you would do if money were no object and then figure out how to get close to that look on the budget you have .  More ideas on that topic will be coming at a later date.

Just remember, that as important as your Chums feel that surroundings are for any of us, what really matters are the things money can’t buy… love, joy and a sense of abundant living that you will provide for that precious little one:)
