Pizza Love

Tomorrow is the day we celebrate love.  All kinds of love.  Love is everywhere, even in the kitchen. And everyone loves pizza!  This one is so easy to make, you can have it ready as fast as you can order delivery pizza.  You don’t need any special kitchen equipment to shape it like a heart and when you do, you’ve got a fun and delicious way to celebrate LOVE:)Maybe you’re going out for Valentine’s Day, but if your children are staying home, here is a great dinner to leave for them and a fun way to tell them “I love you”.  You could also make this heart shaped pizza as an appetizer before you and your special someone go out to dinner.  Or make a salad, this lovely pizza, get a really good bottle of wine and set a romantic table for two at home and have a cozy evening away from all the crowds.

This pizza is truly simple to make, inexpensive and really delicious.  Now that is a combination that is hard to resist…full of love, joy and abundant living 🙂

Homemade Pizza

The dough for this pizza uses the recipe for French Bread we gave you this time last year.  This will make enough dough for 2 large or 3 medium pizzas.  If you want to make just one pizza, the rest of the dough will keep in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.  Or you can use it to make baguettes for your dinner in a day or two….maybe even a heart shaped loaf 🙂   Either way it surely won’t go to waste.
Preheat your oven to 500 degrees while you make the dough.  Reduce heat to 425 degrees before putting pizza in the oven.

1 recipe for dough
(DO NOT use ice cubes when making pizza.  After mixing dough together, allow dough to rest and rise for 15-20 minutes before shaping. )
Tomato sauce – I like Trader Joes organic sauce
Olive oil
Dried oregano and rosemary
Cheeses – grated whole milk mozzarella, grated sharp white cheddar, crumbled goat cheese and grated parmesan

Preheat oven to 500 degrees.

Lightly coat a baking sheet with oil.  Using your fingers push dough into a heart shape.

Spread a very thin layer of tomato sauce to within about 1/2 inch of the edge, then drizzle a bit of olive oil on top.

Sprinkle the sauce with some dried oregano and rosemary, or Italian seasoning.

Add cheeses, beginning and ending with parmesan.

Reduce oven heat to 425 degrees and place pizza on baking sheet on middle rack.  Bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is browned and bubbling and crust is also lightly browned.  The amount of cooking time will depend on the size of the pizza.  Cut with a pizza cutter.  Serve up a slice of love 🙂
