Although once known as a commoner, The Duchess of Cambridge, nee Catherine Middleton, is now a household name.  Here are some fun facts.

Catherine Middleton earned a Master of Art History at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.  She is the first royal wife with a university degree.

While Catherine and William keep their private life very quiet, it is no secret that Catherine loves sports and leads a very active lifestyle.  She set the high jump record at school.

Many people consider Catherine to be one of the most beautiful, revered women in the world but this was not always the case.  Around the age of 13, she found herself being on the receiving end of taunts from bullies for being skinny and shy.  She eventually left the all-girls school, Downe House, to escape it.

Although Catherine enjoys a night out on the town, she loves to cook and has often been seen at the local grocery store, especially when they lived in Wales.  Let’s face it, she could have a personal chef doing all of the cooking but chooses not to.

Although very “sporty” Catherine, obviously has a creative side that shows forth every time she steps out.  Her love of fashion and, indeed, her amazing sense of style, are second to none.

It is not surprising that Catherine followed tradition for her nuptials to William. For her ‘something old’ she had traditional carrickmacross lace sewed into her wedding dress. Her ‘something new’ was custom-made diamond oak-leaf earrings with a diamond-encrusted acorn in the middle – a wedding gift from her parents with a nod to their new family crest. Her ‘something borrowed’ was the Queen’s Cartier tiara, and for ‘something blue’ she had a blue ribbon sewn into the interior of her dress.

Catherine is six months older than her husband, William.

Kate actually prefers to be called Catherine.

Catherine was the oldest spinster bride in history to marry a future king.

And, not to be outdone, something about Prince William…..Prince William once attempted to detract attention from himself while in a nightclub, telling strangers his name was “Danny” and he “often gets mistaken for William”.

Love and joy equals abundant living!  Yes….for sure!
