April Showers

1 AS
It is that time of year…not the rainy season, but the time when brides-to-be everywhere are being celebrated at bridal showers.  Your Two Chums were delighted to be guests recently at an absolutely lovely shower in honor of a beautiful bride-to-be, Megan.  Her mother, aunts and grandmothers are our dear chums!Megan spent some time in Paris this past year visiting her aunt, uncle and cousins who were having an extended holiday there, and so it seemed a natural idea that Paris should be part of the theme of this wonderful party at her Aunt Dana’s home.  Dana is one of THE most talented and creative people we know, so there was no surprise that this was a beautiful and special event.  Every detail was considered and executed perfectly.  The food was delicious and the ambiance was exquisite.

We wanted to share photos of this lovely shower with you in the hopes that you might get some ideas for any party you might be having whether it is a bridal shower, baby shower, Mother’s Day luncheon, birthday party or tea for some of your chums.

Using even some of these special details will tell any guest of honor that she is truly loved, fill her heart with joy and make all feel that life is sweet and oh so abundant!

The drink buffet was filled with beautiful flower buckets and containers and Dana used “chalkboard” signs to write on.  All the wonderful colors of the flowers and pastel colored beverages worked together to make it a very pleasing and inviting visual.  And the floral banner above the table said it all…”Love Is In Bloom – Megan and Jeremy”.

Besides the love that was in bloom, there were beautiful miniature roses in colorful pots with a chalkboard sign with the name of each guest that doubled both as a part if the table decoration and the place cards for each guest.  We were also thrilled to learn that these were being given to us as one of our party favors.  These beautiful potted roses surrounded the center piece flowers which were in glass and iron containers…beautiful!

The luncheon was delicious….a wonderful green salad followed by chicken crepes.  And then there was pastry and dessert….and more pastry and dessert…. and MORE pastry and dessert….so yummy and oooh la la…so French!

12 petit fours

Almond Raspberry Petit Fours

11 macaroons

Macaroons inspired by those from the famous and amazing Parisienne patisserie, Ladurée.
(If you are not familiar with Ladurée, or even if you are, do yourself a favor and click on this link to their website.  Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the English…”Visit Our Website”.  You are in for an amazing treat!!!)

14 cream puffs

Cream puffs and chocolate eclairs

palmiers and madelienes

It just wouldn’t be a proper French party without palmiers and madeleines

10 cookies

Beautiful cookies featured “framed”art.  Dana used edible paper with images that looked like hand painted porcelain that were applied to cookies and then framed with icing that was finished with edible gold dust…exquisite!

The party favors were perfect for this wonderful French themed bridal shower.  Dana printed photos on fabric that they had taken on their Paris holiday.  She used these to make lavender sachets she sewed herself.  Additionally, each guest received a lovely floral fabric and terry washcloth that surrounded a scented soap….and as we showed you above, there were also those wonderful miniature roses.8 -sachets

9 washcloths & soaps

The best gift of all was the warm hospitality that each of us felt at this very special celebration of love.  We couldn’t help but be very happy for Megan and to be your absolutely joyful, Two Chums!
