Apple Roses

Beautiful-Rose-Shaped-Dessert-Made-With-Delicious-Apple-Slices-Wrapped-In-Crispy-Puff-Pastry__880It’s Fall and that means apples are in abundance.  What could be a better way to use them all than to make tasty apple pastries that look like roses?  These are quick and easy to make and just imagine how delicious they would be with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

(One note – we have also seen these made using melted butter instead of apricot jam.  Brush the melted butter on the pastry and then sprinkle it generously with sugar.  Fold pastry and roll as seen in the video. Try them both ways and see which you prefer.)

Maybe some of these belong in your weekend.  They do, if you want a weekend full of abundant living!

Oh my glory! How fun & easy is that sweet treat!! Robin, I’ll give you my Florida address & you could overnight a pan of them to me. (I’ll buy the ice cream here.) Yum yummy. You always come up with such great tasty treats. You just knock my socks off with every delicious recipe. And the video is a great idea for someone without any culinary vision of their own.
I just love you ladies! I learn so much from you both. My tummy and my love of everything Royal sure are doing well, thanks to both of you.

I have made these three times already and they are wonderful and beautiful. After figuring out just what you are doing (first attempt) easier than they look and with a spectacular outcome! They are a yummy breakfast treat too. I added a little cinnamon to mine. And when serving for dessert, I served them with a drizzle of caramel on the plate – sort of a zig zag. And then a drizzle on top of the roses too. They would be lovely with red apples but my favorites for flavor are only partially red and I would prefer the flavor to the color! Pink Lady apples were very tasty. One note – you have to slice them very thinly and make sure they are really cooked enough to be very flexible. That is what I learned on my first attempt.
