The Cookie – A Template For Tastiness

1 (7)What day couldn’t be made a little sweeter with a warm delicious cookie?  We have a cookie you really have to try.  It is a basic foundation recipe. You can vary it easily or customize it with the addition of your favorite kind of nuts, or chocolate, butterscotch, or peanut butter chips, or even dried cherries, dates or cranberries.  You are only restricted by your own imagination.  Here we’ve used unsweetened coconut chips, and white and dark chocolate chips.  These are REALLY yummy!

This recipe is just a jumping off place….a “blank cookie recipe canvas” of sorts, or “A Template For Tastiness”.  You could make the perfect cookie for your Halloween party, your Thanksgiving dessert table, that holiday cookie swap you will be invited to, or as a surprise for your family any day.

A yummy warm cookie sends a message of abundant love and joy 🙂  Have fun with these…maybe someone you know needs this little touch of love this weekend!

Basic Cookie Recipe

3/4 cup butter
3/4 white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
2 teaspoons vanilla
2-3 Tablespoons heavy cream
2 1/4  cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda

For this version of these cookies we added:

12 oz white chocolate chips
4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 /2 cups of unsweetened coconut chips*

Beat butter and sugars together for about 3-4 minutes until butter is light and creamy.  Add egg and vanilla beat again until well combined.  Add in flour mixed with salt and baking soda.  Mix to combine.  Add cream 1 tablespoon at a time until dough is creamy but still stiff enough to hold together.  Now stir in chocolate chips, white and semi sweet, and coconut for these cookies or whatever additions that you want to try.  Bake in a 375 degree oven for 8-10 minutes.  be careful not to overtake.  Now grab a cup of coffee or a glass of ice cold milk and ENJOY 🙂

*These are available at Trader Joe’s or even some local grocery stores in the baking aisle.

Yes, I could use a are touch of cookie-love this weekend. It just requires a visit from darling Robin with a rack of cookies. I’ll provide the ice cold milk. And I give hugs upon arrival.
