How He’s Grown!

BESTPIX: The Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge Release Family Photograph Ahead Of Tour To Australia & New Zealand

Yes, little Prince George certainly is growing up and seems to be more captivated with Lupo, his cocker spaniel, than anything else!

This photo was released over the weekend to mark their first official trip as a threesome.  They are off to New Zealand and Australia later this week and no doubt we will be privy to lots more photos of this darling little boy.

BUT the release of the photo marks another very important day in the UK and that is “Mothering Sunday” which was this past Sunday.

The original Mothering Sunday, was started in the sixteenth century when people returned to their other church, the main church or cathedral of their area, for a service to be held on the 4th Sunday during Lent.  In later times, Mothering Sunday became a day when domestic servants were given a day off to visit their own mother church, hopefully with their mothers and family.  Because of the working class’s hours of duty, families could seldom all get together on any other day.

Eventually, as with so many things, what started as a religious holiday became what we now know as Mothers’ Day, or in the UK, Mothering Sunday.

This will have been Catherine’s first opportunity to be celebrated as a mother on Mothering Sunday.  We feel sure that her day was full of love and joy!
