Encore – PS Don’t Forget The Christmas Crackers!

While you’re out this weekend getting a jump on your Christmas shopping don’t forget the Christmas crackers 🙂

Having grown up in England, I never knew a Christmas table that was without Christmas crackers.

If you are not familiar with Christmas crackers, they look just like the photo above. These ones happen to be gold with red ribbons. Obviously, they could be other colors but are always the same shape.

When the Christmas dinner table is being set, a cracker is placed at every place. When everyone has sat down, you start “popping” your crackers. It is best to have two people to pop your cracker so you would ask your neighbor to take one end and you would take the other, both making sure to hold the little bit of paper sticking out of the end of the cracker. By pulling this little end from both sides, it pops. You open up your cracker and inside you find all sorts of goodies. Usually, each cracker has a riddle or joke, a party favor, and a crown.

What a fun time it is to be sitting around the table with all sorts of kings and queens in their crowns!
