Dear Chums – Who Should Be Included?

Dear Chums

“Dear Two Chums,

I am hosting a shower for a bride-to-be and would really like to include some people at the shower who are not invited to the wedding”

“Some of my friends have told me that I really should not invite anyone who is not included on the wedding guest list.  What are your thoughts, Two Cbums?

A Worried Hostess”

We are so glad that you asked!

We totally agree with your friends who have told you that you should not invite anyone who is not invited to the wedding.

Now, are there exceptions to this rule?  Yes, as with all rules, of course.  Perhaps you know a couple who is having a VERY small (perhaps destination, perhaps family only, perhaps just the two of them) wedding and, because of extenuating circumstances, none of their friends are included on the guest list.  In that case, you and some of her close girlfriends might want to get together and have a shower to honor her.  But, as a rule, we would say, keep the shower guest list to people who are invited to the wedding.

Enjoy hosting the shower.  Serve an abundance of love and joy and we know it will be a wonderful success!
