Color Me Red

As you can tell, your Two Chums see great value in a new coat of paint and that is not only on their walls and furniture but also on their lips!

Yes, I have to admit that I feel rather undressed without lipstick on.  On the rare occasions that I have not had lipstick on, I hear, “You look tired today”.  My quick fix is in that little tube and, magically, I look wide awake again!  Certainly, it does not have to be red ; in fact, it needs to match whatever you are wearing, but whatever color it is, we feel that we always need to have lipstick on our lips!  One family member calls it “being committed”.  If she notices that you have eaten off your lipstick, she will say, “You need to commit” and we all know what she is talking about and dash off to find our tube of lipstick.

So, you put your lipstick on as you are readying yourself for the day and hope that it will stay on for a while.  There are many “long lasting” lipsticks on the market and you may have found one that works just beautifully for you.  If that is the case, keep using it.  We firmly believe that you should not change something if it is not broken!

I have had many people, through the years, ask me how I keep my lipstick on so long during the day and so I thought it might be helpful for me to share what I do.  It is easy – just four steps:

First, when putting moisturizer on my face, I make sure that I put it on my lips as well.

Then, I put an inexpensive concealer on my lips, making sure to cover my lips.  I usually buy it at the grocery store.

After the concealer, and this is the very important step, I pat on translucent powder, making sure to totally cover the concealer. I use a pressed powder in a compact – certainly, it does not have to be an expensive one. Obviously, that is up to you but Cover Girl makes a great one.

And, now, for the fun part …………….

……. your color!

You will find that going through these simple steps will help your lipstick stay on throughout the day.  Try it and let us know how it works for you!

By the way, some of you may ask, “Is it acceptable to apply lipstick at the dining table?”  We Two Chums were brought up to believe that it is not “ladylike” and should be reserved for the Ladies Room after your meal…..BUT….it seems that in the past  twenty or so years, it has certainly become acceptable and one sees ladies of all ages refreshing their lipstick where ever they might find themselves.   So, we will leave that up to you.

So, put your lipstick on …. with joy!

IS THERE NOTHING YOU TWO LADIES DON’T KNOW ABOUT??? You’re amazing! And I don’t even wear lipstick, but I had to see these most unusual pictures of Jackie. (Please wear some nice red lipstick for the wedding tomorrow.)

I definitely DO wear lipstick and love these tips. It is so frustrating to pass a mirror and find it has all worn off and I look frumpy and/or tired without it. I have tried various long lasting lipsticks that friends say work for them and either they don’t work for me, I can’t find a good color in their brand or the texture of them is nasty and doesn’t feel right. So I can’t wait to test out Jackie’s method! Thanks, Hilary

So glad that you found this helpful, Hilary. I agree with you on those lipsticks that are supposed to stay on for ages. They just do not feel great.
      Much love,
