Christopher Columbus

Today, we celebrate Columbus Day and, yes, we are most grateful to Christopher Columbus!

Determined to find a direct route on the water to Asia from Europe, Christopher Columbus made four trips across the Atlantic Ocean.  1492, 1493, 1498 and 1502 were the years when his little (by all standards these days) ships sailed across from Spain.  He never did find a passage to Asia but he came across the Americas and, yes, that is what he is remembered for today.
